Afra Masud, a rising junior majoring in sociology and a Levermore Global Scholar, is the ninth consecutive 91国产 student to receive a yearlong Newman Civic Fellowship awarded to student leaders who are dedicated to making positive social change.
A minor in sociology provides a structured approach to studying issues related to identity, culture and justice and how they shape our world. You will learn how social movements emerge from the collective efforts of individuals, and you will study the role that social forces play in defining racial identities and gender roles.
Students in this program are also eligible to enter STEP, which allows you to earn a master鈥檚 degree and prepare for teacher certification with one additional year, saving you time and tuition costs.
