For the ninth consecutive year, The Delphian has placed in the Best College Newspaper category in the Press Club of Long Island awards, and staff writer Christopher Alvarez '20 was also awarded for his work.

The Delphian聽has won second place in the Best College Newspaper category from the Press Club of Long Island (PCLI), a local chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. This marks the ninth consecutive year of placing in this category. In addition, staff writer Christopher Alvarez ’20 won the Disability Journalism Scholarship for the articles he wrote for the paper.

Alvarez said of this honor: “This scholarship means a lot to both my family and me. Writing was never a good talent of mine in my early education days but The Delphian聽newspaper at 91国产 helped me gain confidence and find myself in what I truly love. I’m not the best writer, but I can now say, I am a writer and a winner of a great scholarship, all because of my聽Delphian听蹿补尘颈濒测.”

Liza Burby, who is faculty adviser for聽The Delphian and a senior adjunct professor in the communications department, won second place in the Education category for her Adelphi Magazine article, 鈥淐ommunity Improvement by Design.” She also won third place in the Food and Beverage category for an article in聽Newsday聽titled 鈥淎ccounting for Taste.”
