Long Island philanthropists and a child development professional will be honored at the 19th annual 91¹ú²ú President’s Gala on Saturday, June 15, at the Garden City Hotel from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. are available for purchase now.

At the President’s Gala, individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the University and the larger community are recognized. This event draws the region’s top civic, business, and community leaders, as well as 91¹ú²ú trustees, alumni and friends, students, administrators, faculty and staff, to celebrate the honorees and the University.

Each year, the University provides more than $70 million in scholarship assistance to its students, including more than 5,000 undergraduates from across the country.

“Each year I am deeply moved by the generosity of 91¹ú²ú’s friends who help make the promise of an 91¹ú²ú education accessible to more and more deserving students,” said 91¹ú²ú President Christine Riordan. “The funds raised by the President’s Gala go to endowments that support the success of present and future Panthers, and I’m thrilled that we can continue paving paths for them to dream and succeed at 91¹ú²ú. I thank everyone who shares and supports our mission.”

Paula Malone, Ph.D., a developmental psychologist, child development professional and president of the Wings Foundation, will be honored with theÌýPresident’s Award for Philanthropic LeadershipÌýin Support of 91¹ú²ú’s Alice Brown Early Learning Center (ELC). Dr. Malone began her career at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, where she implemented a program for teenage parents and their infants within the public school district. She was later recruited by the duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, to establish their Child Development Center. Dr. Malone’s connection to 91¹ú²ú came through the first of her three grandchildren to attend the Alice Brown Early Learning Center. Upon visiting the facility, she was immediately impressed with the level of individual interaction the staff provided. Since that first visit, she has been an enthusiastic supporter and generous donor of the ELC, and is personally committed to furthering the Center’s bold mission to become an innovative leader in early child care and education best practices.

The University will also honor 91¹ú²ú trustee and alumnus Michael Tiedemann ’89, and his wife, Christine Tiedemann, with theÌýPresident’s Award for Distinguished Service. Michael, an investment banker at Wells Fargo Securities, and Christine, a New York state-certified health coach, are committed to assisting their community through various organizations, including the Interfaith Nutrition Network, Child Abuse Prevention Services, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Garden City Service League of Boys. They are ardent supporters of 91¹ú²ú with hopes of sharing its mission to foster the academic success of current and future students. In addition to giving their time and generosity, the Tiedemanns have established an endowed scholarship at the University, to help make 91¹ú²ú’s world-class education even more affordable and attainable for students.
