Please take note of the following:

• Weekday Hours: Hagedorn Hall is open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on weekdays, under an active Fire Watch.
• Overnight Closures: The building is closed to all entries between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekdays.
• Weekend Closures: The building is closed all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

This Fire Watch is a temporary measure required by Section F901.7 of the New York state Fire Code when fire safety systems are impaired, inoperable or undergoing maintenance. Trained personnel will monitor for signs of fire and take any necessary action to ensure the safety of the occupants and property.

Please plan classes, study sessions and activities accordingly. Thank you for your support of our community’s continued safety and wellbeing.

Welcome to the start of the Fall 2026 semester. Because September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month, we’d like to share some important reminders.

Resources for Your Preparedness

• Request a Public Safety training for your department or group to learn important ways to be prepared for hostile intruder events, including run, hide, fight guidelines and Stop The Bleed life-saving techniques.

• Stop the Bleed kits are mounted in all public safety vehicles and in the Performing Arts Center, Center for Recreation and Sports, Swirbul Library, Nexus, Levermore Hall and the University Center.
• The University Center has automated external defibrillator (AED) devices for trained individuals to use.

Our Preparedness

• Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT): 91¹ú²ú was one of the first institutions to establish a dedicated team for monitoring and addressing reported safety concerns. BIT (previously the Threat Assessment Team) is coordinated by Public Safety to help address or prevent serious safety issues that involve our community in support of 91¹ú²ú’s incident reporting and resolution procedures.
• Testing and Practice: At least once a year we test our Emergency Operations Plan and our Mass Notification System (Text/Call). Our Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is published annually (in October) in accordance with the Clery Act. And, in support of our goal to always be prepared and ready, our department and 91¹ú²ú’s leaders practice the University’s emergency response on an ongoing basis with tabletop exercises.
• Local Police Support: We maintain close working relationships with the police departments of Garden City, Hempstead, Nassau County, Suffolk County, Poughkeepsie and New York City. All 91¹ú²ú campus locations are supported by these police services, including criminal investigation and emergency response.

• Mondays to Thursdays: Runs nightly until 10:15 p.m.

• Labor Day Closure: The Panther Express Shuttle will not operate on Monday, September 7, 2026, when the University is closed in observance of the holiday.

Mineola LIRR – 91¹ú²ú Shuttle Stop Relocation

Starting Monday, August 24, 2026, the 91¹ú²ú shuttle pick-up and drop-off location at the Mineola Train Station will change due to ongoing construction:

• Current Location (Ending August 23, 2026): 3rd Avenue and Station Road (by the south eastbound railroad tracks / “LIRR Pick-ups” sign)
• New Location (Starting August 24, 2026): 4th Avenue and Station Road (next to the south platform eastbound railroad tracks)

This testing is required by New York State and should have little or no impact on your day; you may notice water puddling in .

In addition, the Department of Public Safety and Transportation will conduct mandatory annual testing of the fire hydrants on our Garden City campus from Monday, August 3 through Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Our partners in Facilities Management have asked us to remind you that a slight discoloration of the water may occur after the test. This is only a temporary condition; running the water for a minute or two will resolve it.

What is the Campus Hazing Transparency Report?

While our Anti-Hazing Policy defines hazing and outlines prohibited conduct, the Campus Hazing Transparency Report serves as a public log of substantiated incidents in which established or recognized student organizations were found responsible for hazing violations. It includes:

• The organization’s name and the nature of the violation.
• Specific findings, including whether alcohol or drugs were involved.
• Disciplinary sanctions and key dates of the investigation and adjudication (finding of responsibility).

The report is updated every December and June and can be viewed on Adelphi’s Stop Campus Hazing web page.

• January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026: No incidents of hazing that resulted in investigation and adjudication were reported during this period.

Our Commitment to a Safe Campus

Adelphi opposes hazing in any form. We remind all students, faculty and staff that our Anti-Hazing Policy applies to all student organizations—whether officially recognized by the University or not. Violations may result in serious consequences under both the Adelphi Code of Conduct and New York state Penal Law (Sections 120.16 and 120.17), ranging from University expulsion to potential criminal penalties.

This Report Differs From the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Later this year, hazing statistics will also be included in Adelphi’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR), published annually by October 1. Both reports include information about hazing but serve different purposes and follow different federal reporting requirements.

• Campus Hazing Transparency Report: A public record of only substantiated findings of responsibility involving recognized student organizations.
• Annual Security and Fire Safety Report: An anonymous statistical summary of all reported hazing allegations occurring within Clery-defined geography, regardless of whether the allegations were substantiated. Because the ASFSR includes all reported allegations, its hazing statistics may be higher than those included in the Campus Hazing Transparency Report.

If You Witness or Experience Hazing

We strongly encourage timely reporting to the appropriate authorities through the following channels:

• Public Safety: Report hazing by visiting our office on the first floor of Levermore Hall or calling 516.877.3511 (24/7). Reports are shared with Student Conduct and Community Standards.
• Student Conduct and Community Standards: Visit Levermore Hall, room 208, call 516.877.3612 or email studentconduct@adelphi.edu. Reports are shared with Public Safety.
• : Submit reports via the University’s , selecting “Hazingâ€� as the main issue. Providing as much detail as possible will help us respond effectively. These reports can be submitted anonymously.
